Mi trabajo reciente puede calificarse como dibujo poético. A pesar de tener una base figurativa, en el proceso mis pinturas van tornándose abstractas, hasta adquirir una carga que es más emocional o simbólica, que narrativa.
Paso el tiempo pensando y soñando mis cuadros, pero cuando empiezo a pintarlos es el  impromptu del primer pincelazo el que determina la línea. En ese sentido, mi trabajo le debe mucho al expresionismo.

No puedo hablar de los temas de mis pinturas sin hablar de sentimientos: para mí anarquía, pacifismo, misticismo, no son solamente ideas, sino formas de sentir el mundo en diferentes momentos y circunstancias. Mis cuadros nacen de un espíritu incrédulo que no puede evitar presentir que hay fuerzas que mueven el cosmos. Quizás por eso siento una gran afinidad con algunas ideas surrealistas y, más particularmente, con la psicomagia de Alejandro Jodorowski, a la vez grave y extravagante.
Creo que esta sensibilidad ambigua es muy propia de mi generación, que está a la vez informada y maravillada por el nuevo mundo, en parte cibernético, en el que vive.

My recent work can be described as poetic drawing. In spite of having a figurative base, in the process my paintings have become abstract, acquiring a load that is more emotional or symbolic, than narrative. I spend my time thinking and dreaming of my pictures, but when I begin to paint them it is the impromptu of the first brush the one that determines the line. In that sense, my work owes is it to expressionism. I cannot speak of the subjects of my paintings without speaking of feelings. For me anarchy, pacifism, mysticism, are not only ideas, but ways to feel the world at different moments and circumstances.

My pictures are born from an incredulous spirit that cannot avoid to feel that there are forces that move the cosmos. Perhaps for that reason I feel a great affinity with some surrealistic ideas and, more particularly, with the psycho magic of Alejandro Jodorowsky, simultaneously serious and bizarre. I believe that this ambiguous sensitivity is very of my generation, informed and astonished by the new world.

Nací en la ciudad de Quito, Ecuador. Desde niño, estudié en distintas escuelas y talleres de arte. Realicé mi primera serie de 30 óleos a los quince años, en el taller de Carlos Maldonado.
De mi etapa escolar sólo me importa resaltar que quise ser biólogo, pero mis notas en ciencias no me lo permitieron, lo cual constituyó una suerte de trauma para mí. Mi rechazo del sistema escolar se transformó entonces en una dedicación absoluta a la pintura y a la música. Toqué con grupos de jazz y rock experimental, como Dentro de Helena, la Tetarra y los microtonales, entre otros.
Más adelante, estudié diseño gráfico en la Universidad del Pacífico de Santiago de Chile, pero tan importante para mi educación fue ver las películas y leer los libros de Alejandro Jodorowsky, así como los de Humberto Maturana.
Me dediqué al diseño profesional, hasta mi regreso al Ecuador, en dónde, aparte de la pintura, empecé a experimentar con video. Mi primer video fue realizado en 2005 y se llama Mi Zero.
Desde 2008 vivo en Nueva York, y me dedico exclusivamente a pintar.

I was born in the city of Quito, Ecuador. Since my early childhood, I studied in different schools and factories from art. I created my first series of 30 oils at the age of 15 years, in the factory of Carlos Maldonado. The one thing I can highlight about my school years is that I actually wanted to become a biologist, but my grades would not allow it and so the trauma of being rejected from the school system gradually transformed itself into an absolute dedication towards painting and music. I played the bass and guitar in jazz and experimental rock groups such Dentro de Helena, la Tetarra y los Microtonales, Dion, among others.

Further into life, I studied graphic design in Chile where I was influenced with movies and books of Alejandro Jodorowsky as well as Humberto Maturana.
I dedicated myself to the professional design, until my return to Ecuador, where, aside from the painting, I began to experiment with video. My first video was realised in 2005 is called My Zero.
I live in New York since 2008 and I am dedicated exclusively to painting and Visual Arts. All my sound and participation work can be seen in my art collective
